MICHELLE CLAYTON

My research spans modern and contemporary Latin American and European writing and film, avant-garde aesthetics and poetry, dance, art history, and media studies. My first book, Poetry in Pieces: César Vallejo and Lyric Modernity (2011), studied a Peruvian poet against a broad Western lyric and aesthetic backdrop. I am currently working on a second project, Moving Bodies of the Avant-Garde, which examines forms of cultural circulation across Europe and the Americas in the early twentieth century.
