My interests in the ancient world are diverse, but I specialize on the Eastern Mediterranean during the classical period. I am writing a book exploring how people in Greek and Roman Anatolia used Bronze and Iron Age material culture to substantiate narratives about their own origins and the region's antiquity. I have conducted fieldwork at different sites in Anatolia and the Levant, including Sardis, Aphrodisias, and Petra. In 2013, I will return to Anatolia to explore the beginnings of Ionian urbanism. Much of my fieldwork has been devoted to the graphic documentation of archaeological information. I strive to produce images that are archaeologically rigorous and visually compelling. While in Turkey I drew primarily monumental architecture, my work in Jordan involved visualizing non-monumental landscapes. I want to promote dialogue between independent scholarly communities encouraging archaeologists, architects, philologists, and artists to encroach on each other's disciplines and combine their methodologies to study the ancient world.
