MOHAMMAD AL-SHARKAWI

Main research focus is the development of the Arabic Language and its different varieties. The history of Arabic in the early stages of its development in the 7th and 8th centuries is the main focus from different angels. I study the development of Arabic as a coase of language development and also as a case of second language acquisition. In addition I study the effects of these two processes on the stratural form of the Arabic language and its evolution into varieties.

Biography

Born in Cairo-Egypt in 1971
Graduated from Ayn Shams University in Cairo in 1993
Received Masters degree in applied linguistics and teaching Arabic as a foreign language from the American University in Cairo in 1997
Received a Ph. D. in Arabic linguistics from the Radboud university Nijmegen in the Netherlands in 2005
Taught in Holland, Germany, Egypt and the United States
