LEIGH TARENTINO

Leigh Tarentino is an Assistant Professor at Brown who makes paintings, works on paper and digital prints constructed from photographs of the built landscape. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with solo exhibitions in New York, London, and Seoul. Her work has been included in group exhibitions nationwide and in London and Moscow. She is currently working on a series of night landscapes on the subject of "home".

Biography

Leigh Tarentino is an Assistant Professor at Brown who makes paintings, works on paper and digital prints constructed from photographs of the built landscape. She received a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Stas Namin Centre, Moscow, Russia; Bank Gallery, Los Angeles; the University Art Museum, State University of New York at Albany; and The Rotunda Gallery, Brooklyn, New York, among others. Her work has been exhibited at art fairs including Scope New York, London, Miami and Hamptons, and the London Art Fair. She was awarded a Pollock-Krasner grant in 2008. She has had solo shows at Black and White Gallery in 2004 and 2006, and a three-person show in 2009.

Exhibitions and Awards 2010 - present
Leigh had a solo exhibition entitled Long Exposure at the Hartnett Gallery, University of Rochester, in March 2010, and was included in a group show at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado, in October 2010. She received Residency Fellowships at the Ragdale Foundation in May 2010 and the Hambidge Center in June 2010. Professor Tarentino was the recipient of a 2012 Salomon Research Award from Brown University. Her work was exhibited in solo exhibitions in London, England and Seoul, South Korea in June 2012: Picture Window Space Inno, Seoul, South Korea. June 13-26, 2012; Reflections and Translations, Adam Gallery, London, England. June 18-July 7, 2012.

Upcoming
Leigh will exhibit new work in a two-person show at the Chazan Gallery, Providence, Rhode Island, in November 2013. She will be an Artist-in-Residence at the Maitland Art and History Museums in Maitland, Florida, for three weeks in December 2013.
