The focus of my research is to better understand the role of GA-binding protein (GABP) ets transcription factor in myeloid cell differentiation and maturation and its impact in the development of different types of malignancy (e.g.leukemias).

Dr. Karen Drumea is a Research Associate for COBRE CCRD working in the area of Translational Research in Hematology and Oncology Division at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Drumea was appointed Instructor in Medicine at Brown University School of Medicine in April 2005 and Assistant Professor of Medicine (research) in 2007. She came to Rhode Island in 2004 from Israel where she worked as Senior Oncologist in Medical Oncology and Radiation Therapy at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. Dr. Drumea received her M.D. degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iasi, Romania and immigrated to Israel in 1991 where she completed her residency in Oncology. Her research includes molecular and cellular analysis of bone marrow with conditional disruption of GABP transcription factor.
