ANN DILL

Areas of Interest: Medical Sociology, Aging, Complex Organizations. The courses I teach examine the experience of aging, the lives of older people, public policy affecting the elderly, and social aspects of medicine, health, and healing. I study how societies provide care for people with long-term, multiple needs, ranging from the elderly to those with chronic mental illness to recipients of welfare. In addition to research in this country, I have been tracing changes in the situation of older people in former Yugoslavia. My recent publications include an assessment of community-based care for people with AIDS and an analysis of how older peoples - ways of taking care of themselves relate to their social worlds and self identities.
