Dr. Vivier's work focuses on the health status and health services utilization of low income families. Important health issues investigated in Dr. Vivier's work include lead poisoning and childhood obesity. Health system issues addressed by Dr. Vivier and colleagues include emergency department utilization and improving information systems to enhance the delivery of health care.

Dr. Patrick M. Vivier is an Associate Professor of Community Health and Pediatrics at Brown University/Brown Medical School. He is a pediatrican affiliated with Hasbro Children's Hospital/Rhode Island Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree, an independent concentration in Medical Anthropology, from Brown University. He attended Dartmouth Medical School and the Brown Medical School, receiving his degree from Brown in 1989. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Rhode Island Hospital. He also completed a health services reserach fellowship and received a PhD from the Department of Health Policy in the School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.
