A major goal of Nathaniel Baum-Snow's research is to better understand trends in the spatial distribution of population and employment in U.S. metropolitan areas. He has investigated the role of transportation infrastructure in the location decisions of firms and households.
Nathaniel Baum-Snow received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago in 2005. He received his A.B. in economics from Harvard in 1998 and worked as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York after college.
