Soundview Systems Inc.

Sound View Systems, Inc. was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.  Sound View has licensed technology from Brown University which provides new capability to improve the detection of target objects in extremely low signal-to-noise-ratio conditions.  This technology will enable sonar systems, for example, to detect underwater structures or targets at much further distances and with greater target range accuracy than is currently possible.  In the area of sonar imaging, Sound View has technology that can enhance low-resolution grainy sonar images to generate a much clearer and sharper “super-resolution” image.  This capability can be of great value for the inspection of underwater dams, pipelines, ships hulls and other structures.  The technique can also yield image mosaics that allow an object, imaged at close range, to be viewed in its entirety as if the sonar or underwater video device observed the target from a much greater distance.  Applications for Sound View’s technology are numerous in defense, marine navigation, oil and natural gas exploration and ultrasonic medical imaging.

The company’s three founding scientists are distinguished professors at Brown University:  Dr. Leon Cooper, Dr. Nathan Intrator and Dr. Nicola Neretti.
