Solaris Nanosciences' technology has applications in several industry sectors. The company's proprietary NanoAntenna™ platform boosts light absorption in photovoltaics and allows for thinner and more efficient solar cells. The NanoAntenna™ has three major applications: advanced materials for photovoltaics; additives for liquid crystal displays and nanostructures; and nanostructures for improving vision for medical and military applications. The company has created rechargeable dye-sensitized solar cells which have a lower manufacturing cost and a longer life than any other photovoltaic system in the world. Solaris is the first to accomplish rapid and complete replenishment of the sensitizing dye and electrolyte associated with solar cell lifetime. Solaris is developing a large-scale prototype of the rechargeable solar cells and will distribute the product to the building and construction industry. Solaris's patented approaches will dramatically lower the costs of solar panels and improve their efficiency. The market for solar energy is expected to exceed $10 billion by 2010. Solaris is focused on becoming a market leader in low cost solar energy solutions by providing Rechargeable Dye Sensitized Solar Cell modules (RDSSCs) manufactured directly, as well as through corporate partnerships with companies in the building materials and energy industries.
