Nanovis, Inc.

Nanovis has developed a collection of nanostructured surfaces, materials, and patent-pending devices that will allow implants to seamlessly integrate with bone, soft tissue, nerves, and cardiovascular cells. In addition, the chances of infection will decrease with Nanovis's products, and the technology should be compatible with existing techniques. The technology was created through research done at Purdue University. Micropulse, Inc. is supporting the new company by providing some manufacturing and prototyping, but Nanovis will remain a separate entity.

Currently, the company is nucleating with various promising executives in addition to the first CEO, Brian Emerick. Nanovis makes Emerick's fifth startup venture, and he plans to make an equity investment in the company as well. Also added to the team is Matt Hedrick, a former Lilly executive with startup experience. Janice McKenzie has agreed to come on board and will expertly handle the reviewing of intellectual property and various technical writing. A COO has been hired. Thomas Webster, a former Purdue researcher who is now at Brown University, has signed on as a Founder/Consultant, and he has brought one of his Ph.D. students to the company.

The advancements in implant technology coming out of Nanovis have applications in many areas, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, dentistry, and cardiovascular medicine. Soft tissue replacement and a treatment for osteoporosis are also in the works.

Nanovis has its sights set on the large orthopedic companies in the Warsaw, IN area, including DePuy, Inc., Zimmer Holdings, Inc., and Biomet, Inc. International companies have also expressed interest in the technology.

Although some products are further along than others and more study is needed before they can be released to the market, the company's future holds great potential.

The management team is growing with promise, and the upcoming move to Columbia City, IN is an exiting and significant new development.
